 Land on Water

The "Land on Water" project, designed by MAST to create floating architecture, promises to create a sustainable solution for both surface life and underwater life.
The project developed by Danish Maritime Architecture Studio MAST includes houseboats, campsites, small parks and community centers. The “Land on Water” project offering a viable solution to build almost anything above water represents awareness of rising sea levels and increasing urban flood risks. The project was developed with the support of Hubert Rhomberg and venture studio FRAGILE. The project offers more flexible and sustainable solutions rather than unsustainable materials such as polystyrene-filled concrete foundations or plastic pontoons, which are difficult to transport and adapt. The system is based on floating foundations that are simple to transport and install. It is inspired by the gabion construction technique, a technology that uses rubble-filled mesh cages to create low-cost foundations and walls.
The “Land on Water” project is a project that promises to create sustainable solutions for surface and underwater. The floating foundations used in the project provide an ideal habitat for fish and crustaceans and an anchorage for mollusks and seaweed. Thus, it also contributes to biodiversity for the local ecosystem. It also avoids the use of toxic materials that are often used to process steel and concrete foundations.
