Interior Design Program Students Mixed Exhibition

Students from the first and second year of the Interior Design Program exhibited their practical coursework projects at the IGU Vocational School 1st-floor foyer area between May 25–28.

The exhibition was inaugurated by IGU Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Soyal and SATMER Director and Chair of the Design Department, Asst. Prof. Mustafa Günay. Following the opening ceremony, our esteemed Director meticulously examined the displayed student works and engaged in discussions with the students about their projects.

The exhibition featured a diverse range of student projects developed during the 2024-2025 Spring semester, including Sensory Space Workshop studies, restaurant design projects from the Interior Design Project II course, original furniture designs produced in the Furniture Design I course, "hobby garden" projects designed for the Accessibility course, and minimalist "tiny house" living space concepts from the Mobile Living Units course.

Under the "Sensory Space Workshop"students developed innovative pavilion designs for the Golden Horn waterfront, focusing on the five basic senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch). The presentation boards and detailed models, which explored the relationship between sensory perception and space, garnered significant attention.

As part of the Interior Design Project II course, students tackled restaurant design, presenting projects based on self-defined concepts. These works stood out for their spatial organization and functional solutions. Another highlight was the furniture designs from the Furniture Design I course, centered on "Biomimicry", demonstrating innovative approaches by translating natural forms into industrial design.

For the Accessibility course, a collaborative fieldwork project with TOFD (Türkiye Spinal Cord Injury Association) led to "hobby garden" designs tailored to individuals with disabilities, offering inclusive solutions. The "Tiny House" projects from the Mobile Living Units course showcased minimalist living spaces maximizing comfort in limited areas.

The exhibition successfully showcased our students' dedicated work. We extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed faculty members for their guidance: Chair of Department Lect. Selin Rüya Çakır, Asst. Prof. Ece Cantemir, Lect. Duygu Ersoy Hocamoğlu, Lect. Kevi Beqiraj, and Lect. Hülya Algur Marşoğlu.

We also sincerely thank IGMYO Director Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Soyal and SATMER Director Asst. Prof. Mustafa Günay for honoring us with their presence and evaluating the student projects.
