Employment of Artificial Intelligence in place of Workers at IBM in the USA

IBM announced that it will replace about 30% of its business operations with artificial intelligence and automation technologies. These changes aim to make business processes more efficient, reduce operating costs, and increase customer satisfaction. In addition, human labor will be directed towards higher value-added jobs. IBM CEO Arvind Krishna stated that with the advancement of artificial intelligence, some jobs will be replaced, and therefore hiring will be suspended. The positions affected by the hiring freeze will be non-customer-facing jobs, representing approximately 26,000 employees. Krishna stated that artificial intelligence and automation technologies will increase efficiency in business processes, reduce operating costs, and allow the company to invest more in the future.

Within five years, Krishna announced that about 30% of some business operations will be replaced by artificial intelligence and automation, resulting in approximately 7,800 job losses. Krishna stated that some human resources tasks, such as providing employment verification letters or transferring employees between departments, could be fully automated with artificial intelligence technologies, but some human resource tasks will not be replaced in the next decade. Artificial intelligence technology can replace humans in some jobs, but not all. Artificial intelligence technology can increase efficiency in certain business processes, reduce errors, and enable some tasks to be completed faster and more accurately. The use of artificial intelligence technologies is particularly widespread in repetitive, routine tasks. However, humans possess emotional intelligence, creativity, and social interaction skills that cannot be fully replicated by artificial intelligence technology at this time.
