One article of this bill was adopted on 8 June, enabling microphones and cameras to be activated to record audio and video recordings from phones, computers, and tablets of suspects in cases such as terrorism and organized crime, and to monitor their location. These two bills expand the power of both government and security forces to interfere with the public's privacy rights. Human rights defenders and other critics have warned of the potential for abuse of such powers. However, the government argues that these technologies will be an important tool in solving crimes and protecting against terrorist threats.
