According to the news in Time magazine, working four days a week benefits both companies and employees, according to research by Cambridge University in England. While employees feel healthier, happier, and healthier, companies' revenues increase by 1%.

The aforementioned research was conducted on 61 companies and 2900 employees, mostly UK-based, between June and December 2022. It is left to the initiative of the companies whether to make any deductions from the wages of the employees. More than half of the companies surveyed asked all their employees not to come to work on Mondays or Fridays. The other half suggested fewer working hours, i.e. shorter days, within five working days. Thus, the average weekly working hours of the employees were reduced from 38 hours to 34 hours for 6 months.

About 40 percent of the participants said they experienced less work-related stress and were able to sleep more comfortably, while 71 percent said they felt a lower level of burnout. 96 percent said they prefer the four-day study type. The majority of workers said they would need a substantial pay increase to return to work five full days a week, while 15 percent said no amount of money would persuade them to return.

In the companies participating in the research, income increased by 1 percent on average during the said period, while employee turnover and absenteeism decreased. Almost all participating companies said they plan to continue the four-day-a-week experiment, in some cases indefinitely.
