 Tax Payments Delayed in Provinces Affected by the Earthquake


According to the statement made by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the tax payments to be made in the provinces affected by the two major earthquakes, which occurred at different times on February 06, 2023 and whose epicenters were announced as Kahramanmaraş Pazarcık and Kahramanmaras Elbistan, were postponed. Among the provinces in question, in addition to Kahramanmaras, there are Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Sanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Malatya and Hatay.


Force majeure was declared in these provinces until 31 July 2023 and the tax payments of taxpayers in these provinces between 06.02.2023 and 31.07.2023 were postponed. Again, the deadlines for submission of tax returns and tax notifications that should be submitted between 06.02.2023 and 31.07.2023 and the payment periods of taxes that will accrue or accrue on these returns and notifications have been extended until the end of working hours on 15.08.2023.
On the other hand, it was announced that the necessary preparations and plans were made to postpone the payment terms of the March, May and July installments until August, October and December, respectively, within the scope of the restructuring laws numbered 7256 and 7326. In addition to these, it was stated in the statement that the emergency cash support and demands for unexpected shelter, nutrition and other issues arising due to the damage caused by the earthquake were met without delay in coordination with the relevant public institutions and organizations.
