Occupations in The Post-Covid Period
According to the 2019 reports, the first four of the features that will be preferred in employees for the future were abilities within the scope of social and emotional skills. These abilities include reasoning, observation, ability to quickly implement what has been learned, and problem solving by thinking critically. In this direction, empathy, self-management and teamwork are among the concepts that gain importance. Considering the change created by technology in business life, the high level of these social and emotional skills enables employees to quickly transform their business life. As a matter of fact, the pandemic has confirmed all these evaluations by increasing the speed of technology.
With the change in the speed of technology, some professions have gained more importance than before, according to the latest reports. According to the "Future of Jobs - Professions" report published by the World Economic Forum in 2018, "Digital Marketing Expertise", which was in the 20th rank, rose to the 4th rank in the report published after the pandemic. In addition, "Internet of Things Expertise", which was not included in the previous report, was ranked 10th in the latest report. Another striking development regarding the latest report published is that it reveals the importance of social and emotional skills more clearly. The competency of “self-management” was included in the list for the first time in the aforementioned report. Especially considering the effect of working from home, this competence emerges as an increasingly important skill in the productivity of teams that communicate with each other remotely.
