 COVID and AFTER

When the pandemic first appeared, it was thought that it would last for a short time, and the problems it would cause were not sufficiently foreseen. Not leaving the house to go to work was well received by many employees, and the meetings held over digital channels were also seen as almost fun. However, as time progressed and the conditions continued, the perception of the employees on this issue began to change. Both the number and duration of meetings and the frequency of e-mails have started to increase; Employees have started to be unable to manage time as well, having difficulty in adjusting the workload that has increased due to remote working over time. All these have increased the stress level of the employees and caused them to experience burnout, which was defined as a health problem by the World Health Organization in 2019.

In 2021, a survey was conducted by the Microsoft company with more than 31 thousand employees covering 31 business lines. Within the scope of the research, 67% of the employees stated that they missed being able to communicate with their teams very much, 37% stated that their managers demanded more from them because they were working remotely, 54% felt that they were working much more, and 39% were exhausted.
