With the automatic participation system in private pension that started in 2017, employers deducted 3 percent from the salaries of all employees who met the conditions and transferred them to the private pension system. The employee saves money by staying in the system; Although he did not want to, he left the system of his own will. In other words, entry to the system was compulsory but exit was free.
It was mandatory for those who quit automatic participation to re-enter the system in certain periods, but this requirement has been removed. However, with the latest regulation, employees who left automatic enrollment in the past were allowed to re-enter the PPS voluntarily if they were working in the same workplace.
Since the automatic enrollment started in 2017, nearly 24 million employees have been included in the PPS by their employers, and nearly 18 million of them have left the system. Today, 6.5 million employees save with the automatic enrollment system.
Another important change was made to the auto-enrollment system at the beginning of this year. When the system started, it only covered those under the age of 45. With the change made at the beginning of the year, the age limit for automatic enrollment was abolished and people over the age of 45 were also allowed to enter the system.
