In the action plan, it is foreseen that the average daily water consumption per person, which is still 146 litres in Turkey, will be gradually reduced to 100 litres until 2050. Other planned issues include the use of automation systems to record unregistered water uses, the introduction of night irrigation practices, and the widespread use of clean water production and recycling (treatment) techniques. Within the scope of the plan, measures to organize various trainings and disseminate the use of necessary devices, equipment and materials were also envisaged.
Gediz Basin, on the other hand, was chosen to be a model basin in the context of integrated watershed management. With the Blue Gediz Action Plan, the water resources in the basin will be improved in terms of both quantity and quality, floods and droughts will be prevented and the welfare level of the basin will be increased. While doing all this, the existing ecosystem will be protected and its biological diversity will be increased.
