The Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers (UTIKAD) has been in existence since 1986 as the most comprehensive non-governmental organization in the Turkish transportation and logistics sector, primarily by air, land, rail, and sea.
Answering the questions of the Dünya newspaper, the President of the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers Ayşem Ulusoy stated that logistics investments have become much more important after the earthquake disaster and stated the importance of implementing logistics infrastructure investments by developing public incentive mechanisms and railway mode for the development of Intermodal transportation for many years as an association.
It was stated that the importance of logistics infrastructure investments is understood more than ever to alleviate the pressure on the highway by making effective use of seaway and railway alternatives.
In the statement made by Ayşem Ulusoy, emphasizing that Turkey's importance in transit trade has increased and the Middle Corridor's role and importance in Turkish foreign trade in the rapidly growing transit trade process, our country has a unique position in the task of transportation corridor between Asia and Europe and this great advantage should be evaluated.
He stated that the Middle Corridor within the scope of the "One Belt One Road Project" carried out by China passes through Turkey and that this situation makes Turkey a bridge between Europe and Asia and this position should be evaluated very well.
To further strengthen Turkey's position in the 'Belt and Road Initiative', investments were made in Istanbul Airport, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Marmaray, and port, ensuring uninterrupted access to Turkey from east to west in the Middle Corridor.
