In the statement made by the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, it was stated that the financing of 450 million dollars allocated for the Turkey Green Industry Project, which is carried out together with the World Bank, will be offered to SMEs, industrialists and technology startups.
It was stated that the Turkish industry, which realizes more than 90% of Turkey's exports, will be made workable without any problems, especially with the European Union border carbon mechanism, renewable energy investments, and projects to support the circular economy in the industry, and within the framework of this project, 450 million dollars of financing will be used.
Kaçır stated that they will support green transformation and renewable energy investments of SMEs through KOSGEB, and R&D projects to reduce carbon emissions together with TUBITAK.
Regarding the project, 250 million dollars of resources can be used within KOSGEB, 175 million dollars in TÜBİTAK's resources, and 25 million dollars to implement the national green industry transformation agenda, coordinate project activities, and lay the institutional foundations.
It was stated that within the scope of the Paris Climate Agreement approved by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, necessary studies were carried out for the country to approach its carbon net-zero targets.
Turkish industry accounts for more than 90% of all Turkey's exports, and more than 40% of this rate is carried out with European Union countries. The importance of this project was pointed out to reduce the carbon emissions of the industrial sector and to comply with the international agreements to which Turkey is a party.
