 Could Algae Be the Food Source of the Future?


From the past to the present, the need for food has increased in parallel with the increase in population. According to estimates, the world's population will reach 9.8 billion in 2050, and research on new resources continues for the reason that it may bring about a possible famine.


As a result of the research, studies have been started on the evaluation of algae, also known as seaweed, as a food source. It has recently attracted attention due to sustainability, high nutritional content, cost, environmental friendliness and its functional properties in terms of health. Experts state that algae, which are an alternative food source, have a wide range of uses such as bread, sausage, and yogurt, and that there may be an opportunity to use alternative additives in foods.
