The Most Powerful Passports Announced: Ukraine Rises Russia Down

The British company Henley has updated its list of "the strongest passports of 2022" announced in January 2022. It was seen that Singapore and Japan continued their leadership in this list by taking place at the top.

The two countries hold the distinction of being the countries with the strongest passports in the world, as they have the right to enter 192 countries without a visa. With the effect of the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukraine rose to the top of the list, while Russia fell behind.

Before the start of the Russian occupation, Ukraine was able to enter 141 countries without a visa, while it was in 35th place. In the updated report, Ukraine removed the visa restriction with 143 countries and came to the 34th place in the list. With Russia's invasion of Ukraine on its border, it first faced sanctions from European countries, including the United States and Britain, and it was aimed to remain alone by deteriorating with Western countries. Russia, which was in the 46th place in the list of the most powerful passports renewed before this war, has regressed to 49th place with the opportunity to travel to 117 countries without a visa. Turkey, on the other hand, regressed 2 places in the renewed list, although there was no difference in visa-free country travels in the January report. In the list of the most powerful passports, the Turkish passport, which can enter 110 countries without a visa, fell from the 50th place to the 52nd place.
