Record Export in 2022 in Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Industry

According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the total export figures for the months of January-November 2022 increased by 13.9 percent compared to the data of 2021, reaching 231.2 billion dollars. Looking at the export figures of the ready-to-wear and apparel industry in January-November 2022, it is seen that an export of 19 billion 501 million dollars increased by 5.8 percent compared to 2021. Out of the 19.5 billion dollars export of the Ready-made Clothing and Apparel Industry in the January-November period of 2022, 13.5 billion dollars was made from Istanbul, 1.6 billion dollars from Bursa and 1.3 billion dollars from Izmir. Due to fast delivery, proximity to target markets, quality production and wide product range, the provinces where exports are made are mostly Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir.
Looking at the data, the sector has realized the highest January-November period exports of all time in 2022. Most of the exports were made to Germany. Exporting to 214 countries and regions in 11 months of this year, the sector had a share of 8.4 percent in the country's total exports. Thus, we can say that the contribution of the Ready-made Clothing and Fashion Industry to the national economy is quite high.
