The ready-made clothing sector is one of the important sectors of Turkey due to its share in gross domestic product, manufacturing industry and industrial production, exports, net foreign currency input to the economy, and employment it provides. The Turkish ready-made clothing industry is largely export-oriented. Among the main reasons for Turkey's high export figures in the ready-made clothing sector are that the Turkish ready-made clothing industry has a flexible production structure, that adapts to changing fashion trends and that produces fashionable products with high added value, in addition to fast delivery, proximity to target markets, technical, social and administrative know-how, experience, wide range of products, quality production and design capacity.
November export data of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) were shared at the meeting held in Adana with the participation of Trade Minister Mehmet Muş. Mustafa Gültepe, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and Istanbul Ready-made Clothing and Confection Exporters' Association (İHKİB), stated that they achieved the highest November export performance to date, reaching $21.9 billion in November with an increase of 1.9 percent. He reported that this figure reached 231.2 billion dollars in the January-November period, and 253.5 billion dollars in the last 12 months. The sectors with the highest exports in November were automotive with 2.9 billion dollars, chemistry with 2.6 billion dollars, ready-made clothing with 1.6 billion dollars, electrical electronics with 1.4 billion dollars and steel with 1.3 billion dollars.
