 New Creative Director from Gucci

Gucci has announced that 'Sabato De Sarno' is the brand's new creative director after Alessandro Michele left in November 2022.

Guccio Gucci, the founder of the famous Italian brand, was born on March 26, 1881, as the child of an Italian leather manufacturer. Over the years, he started working at the luxury suitcase brand Franzi. Guccio, who improved himself over the years and learned the craft from his masters, opened his own leather goods store in 1921. Gucci, with his three sons, showed great success and announced the existence of the brand to large masses in 1938. When leather supply became difficult in the 1930s due to the embargo imposed on Italy, Gucci began working on alternative fabrics and these experiments led to the emergence of the first signature pattern. After the death of Gucci in 1953, Gucci experiences its golden age. Designed with two Gs facing each other in memory of Guccio Gucci, the logo is introduced as the brand's new logo.
In the 90s, Tom Ford becomes the creative director of the brand. Contrary to the minimalism trend of the 90s, tight-fitting, thin-sleeved dresses and stilettos are widely adopted by fashionistas. After Tom Ford, names such as Alessandra Facchinetti, Frida Giannini, and Alessandro Michele become creative directors. After Alessandro Michele, who left the brand last November, the new creative director of the brand is 'Sabato De Sarno'. The Italian Designer will present his first collection at Milan Fashion Week in September 2023. De Sarno, who worked at Prada in 2005, then at Dolce Gabbana and finally at Valentino since 2009, continues his career at Gucci as of 2023. He will be responsible for the women's and men's leather goods, accessories, and lifestyle collections of Italy's Gucci; He will work with Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri.
