Jewelry Design Made from Waste Materials at the Sustainability Themed Workshop
Jewelry designs were made from waste materials under the leadership of Can Eren Külahlıoğlu at the sustainability themed workshop organized by the Fashion Design Program of Istanbul Gelisim Vocational School on December 16, 2022 at the G Block campus.
People's search for change and diversity, the motivation to express themselves and their social identity, creates a fast production-consumption cycle through fast fashion. In the face of this rapid production and consumption, nature is rapidly depleted and becomes unable to renew itself. Global climate changes, the depletion of resources, the increase of waste generation and environmental pollution require taking precautions against problems that may occur in the future. As a result of the increase in environmental protection movements, concepts such as ecological products that do not harm the environment and human health, sustainability, recycling and reuse constitute the starting point of fashion designers and affect the fashion industry.
With this awareness, Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School Fashion Design Program organized a sustainability themed workshop on 16 December 2022 at the G Block campus. Trainer Can Eren Külahlıoğlu first shared information about the history of jewelry and the meanings given to jewelry in different societies. In the activity where the students learned with fun, jewelry designs were made from waste materials.
Thank you to the participants.
