How Do Our Clothes Relate to Biodiversity?

Most of the raw materials used in the fashion industry come from nature.

The use of chemical pesticides while growing the cotton used in our clothing causes the soil to deteriorate, causing damage to the species in nature and letting the harmful chemicals in our bodies. While synthetic fibers such as polyester and viscose cause land degradation; causes deterioration of food chains in fibers such as wool and cashmere.

For the continuation of biodiversity and a sustainable world; The use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers should be reduced, and the use of regenerative farming system should be supported. The organic fertilizers should be used more instead of chemical pesticides. Collaboration with production suppliers should be done and recycled fiber alternatives should be developed.

Among the things that consumers should do, while purchasing clothes, products that can be worn for a long time should be preferred and slow fashion should be supported instead of fast fashion.
