It uses Apple’s UltraFusion technology to double the performance by combining two M2 Max chips. This new chip has a very impressive structure. It contains 134 billion transistors which are 20 billion more than in the M1 Ultra. Thanks to its unified memory architecture, it offers a memory capacity of up to 192 GB and provides 50 percent more capacity compared to the M1 Ultra. It also offers twice the memory bandwidth of the M2 Max, with 800GBps of memory bandwidth. The M2 Ultra has a 20 percent more powerful CPU, a larger and 30 percent faster GPU, and a Neural Engine up to 40 percent faster than the M1 Ultra. Thanks to UltraFusion, a special production package technology, M2 Ultra can be perceived as a single chip by software, which ensures compatibility with existing software. The performance of this new chip is also quite impressive. It has a total of 24 cores, with 16 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. It offers up to 20 percent faster performance compared to the M1 Ultra. Also, the GPU comes with a choice of 60 or 76 next-gen cores. This indicates up to 12 more cores and up to 30 percent better performance compared to the M1 Ultra chip.
