Constantly Looking at the Screen Can Cause Various Health Problems

Eye Fatigue; Looking at screens such as computer, telephone, television for a long time can cause eye fatigue, stinging, burning sensation and redness in the eyes. This condition is often referred to as "Digital Eye Strain" or "Computer Vision Syndrome". Sleeping disorders; The blue light emitted from screens can prevent your body from producing the sleep-regulating hormone called melatonin. This can lead to sleep disturbances and overall reduced sleep quality. Neck and Back Pain; body posture is often impaired when looking at a computer or phone screen. This can cause neck, shoulder, and back pain in the long run. Headaches and Migraine; Constantly looking at the screen can cause headaches and migraines, especially if you wear glasses or contact lenses.

Sedentary Lifestyle; Looking at screens for a long time is often associated with a sedentary lifestyle. While watching television, working at the computer, or using the mobile phone, we are often inactive. This, in turn, can reduce calorie burn and facilitate weight gain. Myopia; Prolonged and close-range screen use can increase the risk of myopia (difficulty farsightedness), especially in children and teenagers. In addition, constantly looking at the screen can lead to psychological effects. Excessive flow of information from screens can increase stress and anxiety. Also, excessive time spent on social media can cause a person to disconnect from the real world and increase feelings of loneliness. To minimize the negative health effects of constantly looking at the screen, it is important to take breaks at regular intervals, maintain the correct sitting position, use appropriate lighting, and use appropriate glasses to protect your eyes. Also, not using screens before going to sleep can help improve sleep quality.
