We surpassed Turkey average in university preferences

Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) placement results have been announced. According to the statement made on the OSYM website, state universities reached 93.89 percent occupancy rates, while foundation universities reached 84.14 percent occupancy rates. Istanbul Gelisim University Rector Prof. Dr. Burhan Aykaç stated that they have reached an occupancy rate of 92%, above the general average of Turkey, together with the departments requiring special skills.

prof. Dr. Aykaç said, “These results support our achievements in the field of internationalization. We are a university with international accreditation. We hold a record in Turkey with our 54 accredited programs. We have attracted attention in the world with our works and international cooperation. At the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia Awards 2019, which is called the Oscars of higher education, we took our place as the only university from Turkey in the category of "Internationalization Strategy of the Year" and we became one of the top 7 universities in the world in this field. We have more than 30 international faculty members and all of them are experts in their fields with international publications. All these achievements are followed in our country. Students make their choices consciously. All the students who join us are now part of the big IGU family. I welcome all of them,” he said.

“THE OPPORTUNITIES OFFERED ARE EFFECTIVE TO CHOICE”

Stating that the occupancy rates of state and foundation universities are very close to each other, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IGU Abdulkadir Gayretli said, “There is a generation that attaches great importance to education. Opportunities offered by foundation universities have an impact on students' choices. We have created awareness with the foreign language support we provide to our students, international flight ticket support and the opportunities we offer to those who want to set up their own business.”

Gayretli stated that they are working to create value-added projects in Turkey and said, “This year, the eyes are on us with our "Flying Car" project, which we presented to the public at the 8th Media Award Ceremony of IGU. We also attracted attention with projects such as Eczamatik, Jet Brake System Car. We want to be at the forefront with projects that create added value.”

President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Gayretli, who also referred to Yekta Saraç's goal of internationalization of Turkish universities, stated that all the steps they took for this purpose were rewarded in Turkey and in the world, and that they would achieve greater success.
