After radically changing the design and production approach in the sectors like aerospace, and automotive, robotics has now started to find a place for itself in the construction sector. Within the scope of this study, a French engineering school (École des Ponts ParisTech), founded in 1747, which trains future leaders, civil engineers and researchers and is at the forefront of the world, has prepared a new education and training curriculum. The currently active Executive Master of Digital Building Design provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of the latest technological developments in parametric architecture, advanced geometry, robotics and digital manufacturing, and an interdisciplinary culture of affordable design for the construction industry. The program provides a tangible opportunity for entry into an international architectural innovation ecosystem.
After 16 months of education and training, graduates have the knowledge and opportunity to innovate in the design business process progression through the use of a computational and work-sharing approach to engineering and architecture. It is possible to explain the resulting group with sub-branches as follows: “project managers, computational designers, facade consultants, structural engineers in complex geometry, chief design officers, interaction designers, robot and drone designers”.
This master's program requires a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture along with professional experience with knowledge of 3D modeling. Another option of the same school on a similar subject is an innovative module, which is a 5 (five) week program that combines Construction Robots with Computer Aided Manufacturing or Computer Aided Design. The aim of this program is to have a full understanding of the approaches used to make digital design or robotic manufacturing viable, to design unusual objects and complex geometries, or to put them all into practice.
