 Interest in virtual museums increased after COVID-19


It is possible to visit virtual museums at the webpage virtualmuze.gov.tr.


With the rapid development of technology and the impact of the pandemic period, museums brought their works to the virtual environment and met with visitors. Art lovers, who were in quarantine at home due to the COVID-19 epidemic that affected the world, had a pleasant time by visiting national and international museums thanks to the virtual environment.
Due to COVID-19, institutions such as schools, libraries, cinemas and theaters, as well as museums, were temporarily closed due to measures. Museums, which are not-for-profit institutions, were among the institutions most affected by the pandemic.
Museums have been holding their online exhibitions for two years with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In our country, it is possible to reach virtually many museums and archaeological sites from virtualmuze.gov.tr. Some of those:
