The Church of Saint George in Diyarbakır was Restored

The Church of Saint George, which was built by the Romans in the Sur district of Diyarbakır and belongs to the 4th century AD, will be restored by the Municipality and used as an art gallery. The church, which was restored in 2020, is located in Diyarbakır's historical İçkale. The Church of Saint George, built by the Romans in the 4th century BC, will be used as an art gallery after the restoration completed by the Metropolitan Municipality. The 1600-year-old church, which was restored by the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Reconstruction and Urbanization, was previously used as an art gallery. The other name of the church, which was also used as a madrasa during the Artukid period, is Hızır İlyas Church. Spot lights were used to make the church look aesthetically pleasing at night. It is stated that the church will also benefit from tourism.
