Applications for Accessible Film Festival Continue

Accessible Film Festival aims to expand the cinema culture by bringing many films together with the audience every year. While the festival was initially held only in Ankara, it has also started to be held in Istanbul and Eskişehir as of 2017, and from 2020 it has been opened to the whole of Turkey online. While adopting the principle of accessibility in all its events, the festival became one of the founding members of the "BE IN! Accessible Festivals Network" in 2019, thus adding an international dimension to its efforts to ensure equal access in cinema and to increase the representation of people with disabilities in the cinema sector. The festival will be held in Ankara and online from October 20-26, with the aim of providing equal access to cinema.

The third of the Short Film Competition organized as part of the festival is being held this year. This competition aims to support the development of short film production and bring quality short films from all over the world to the festival audience. The competition is open for short films produced in 2022 and 2023, not exceeding 20 minutes, in fiction and animation, without subject limitation. Applications continue until 14 July. After the end of the applications, the selection committee will determine the films that make it to the finals. The Selection Committee consists of film critic Aslı Ildır, editor Baran Bozdağ and the Festival's Program Director Kaan Denk. The finalists, which will be announced on August 4, will be evaluated by the jury and the festival audience for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Audience Special Award. The film that is deemed worthy of the Best Film award will win a prize of $1000, while the winners of the Best Director and Best Screenplay awards will each receive a cash prize of $500. Applications for participation in the Accessible Film Festival are received through filmfreeway.com. You can find detailed information about the competition and the festival and the application conditions at www.engelsizfestival.com  and https://filmfreeway.com/AccessibleFilmFestival  websites. The festival aims to support the production of short films and make an important contribution to this art, while promoting equal access to cinema for all. Accessible Film Festival and Short Film Competition attract a wide range of attention and participation every year, highlighting the universal language of cinema and an equality-based approach.
