Turkish Cargo, the air cargo brand of Turkish Airlines, participated in a certificate program on the transportation of lithium battery products at the IATA (International Air Transport Association) World Cargo Symposium. Participation in the certificate program called “CEIV Lithium Battery”, which is organized to certify the competence of the products in question to be transported safely, was made with the signing ceremony organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). To obtain this certificate, the company must successfully pass the training, evaluation, and registration phases of the program.
The certificate to be awarded confirms that Turkish Cargo follows the standards, policies, processes, and procedures determined by IATA by the new CEIV (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators) program when shipping lithium-ion battery products. These developed standards aim to transport lithium-ion battery products more safely throughout all phases of the supply chain during air cargo operations. CEIV Li-batt certification is recognized worldwide as one of the highest standards. The European freight market, which Turkish Cargo also serves, accounts for approximately one-quarter of the total world trade, and Turkish Cargo is one of the largest companies serving in this market.
International Air Transport Association (IATA) Cargo Division Global Head Brendan Sullivan said at the signing ceremony that Turkish Airlines greatly supported the expectations of the shippers with this participation.
