Hosted by Pegasus Airlines and with the contributions of Anadolu Jet, the 79th IATA (International Air Transport Association) Annual General Assembly (AGM) and also the World Air Transport Summit (WATS) will be held at Istanbul Hilton Bomonti on 04-06 June 2023. will also be done. Thus, Istanbul will host a giant organization of the global aviation industry for the second time this year.
Boeing and Airbus, the two largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, are also expected to attend the summit. The opening speeches of the summit will be made by IATA Director General Willie Walsh and IATA Chairman of the Board Mehmet T. Nane. On the first day of the meetings, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat and Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk will attend a panel where they will talk about the role of the aviation industry during earthquakes and crises. The program of the event also includes the performance and economic outlook of the aviation industry in the post-epidemic period. Sustainability is expected to be an important agenda item again. New technologies and innovations developed by manufacturers related to flight safety and comfort will also be conveyed at the meetings. In addition, sector representatives will discuss the lessons learned from the disruptions experienced at major airports in North America and Europe in 2022 in a special session.
IATA had set a net zero emission target for 2050. The aviation industry, on the other hand, has recently focused on achieving the zero waste target in cabin services.
