While CDP stands out as the world's largest environmental reporting platform, Istanbul Airport became the only airport from Turkey to participate in this platform's Climate Change Program and Water Security Program.
CDP helps companies report how they use natural resources and how they contribute to the reproduction of these resources.
Climate change has been identified as the top threat since 2016 in the World Economic Forum's Global Risk Report. The main reason for global climate change was determined as the increase in greenhouse gas emissions as a result of human activities. The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is the most common environmental reporting platform that encourages businesses to report through institutional investors on progress towards their goals in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Istanbul Airport CEO Kadri Samsunlu, who made a statement on the subject, said that their goal is to emit zero carbon dioxide until 2050 and that they have made all their plans in this regard. Stating that they act in accordance with the ISO 14046 Water Footprint Standard, Samsunlu stated that they aim to be an exemplary model airport, to avoid waste, to transform their wastes and to establish sustainable practices in this contextSource:
