 Istanbul Airport Ranks First in Europe




The 'Comprehensive Evaluation Report', prepared by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation_EUROCONTROL and covering the period from January 01 to December 06, 2022, has been published.
IGA (Istanbul Grand Airport) Istanbul Airport ranked first in the list, which determines the busiest airports in Europe in terms of the number of passengers it serves, with an average of 1,206 flights per day. In other words, according to the report, Istanbul Airport was the busiest airport in all of Europe last year.
IGA Istanbul Airport hosted more than 59 million passengers in the first 11 months of 2022. IGA Istanbul Airport, with a total of 388 thousand 461 aircraft traffic, 100 thousand 950 on domestic lines and 287 thousand 511 on international lines, in 11 months of this year, ranked first among airports in Europe with these figures. According to the statistics of the European Air Navigation Safety Organization (EUROCONTROL); With an average of 1,206 flights per day, IGA was followed by Amsterdam Schiphol Airport with 1,147 flights, Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport with 1,120 flights and Frankfurt Airport with 1,54 flights. According to the statement made on the social networking site of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, “Istanbul Airport became the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1,206 flights per day. Antalya Airport, on the other hand, was among the 20 busiest airports in Europe with an average of 545 flights per day.
