Huge volcanic ash clouds from an underwater volcano named Tonga, caused the airlines to cancel dozens of flights.
The location was said to be Southwestern Pacific, and some of the major airlines which said to have cancelled the flights were; Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Qantas while Fiji Airways and Fiji Link grounded the majority of the flights.
The eruption began around December 2021, and on January 14, 2022, a plume of smoke and volcanic ash covered the surrounding area.
