A routine test flight made its way into the record books as the A380 passenger airplane broke the sound of speed after a test flight when it went into a nose dive at approximately 10,000 meters (33,000 feet). The maximum speed recorded at the time of the incident was 650 knots (1,200 km/h). This recorded speed was 70 knots (150 km/h) faster than the speed of sound at that altitude. The incident lasted for over two minutes, and as a result of this the engines started to overheat.
