Air Canada was the first Canada airline to initiate digital definitions

Air Canada announced that digital definition technology is available for certain flights from Vancouver International Airport. With this decision, it was the first Canadian airline company that received approval to use digital definition technology.
In a world that becomes even more innovative every day, airlines and airports are looking for ways to implement new technologies that improve passenger experience. Such features include airport maps containing GPS guidelines, baggage tracking, luggage delivery shortcuts at airports, mobile boarding cards and even biometric technologies to ride a plane. On 22 February 2023, Air Canada, YVR and Toronto Pearson announced that it was the first Canadian airline to start using digital definition technology for certain flights from Air Canada Café at the International Airport.
Using face recognition technology, Air Canada will be able to digitally identify its passengers while getting on certain flights to Winnipeg. In the future, Air Canada also explained that he hopes to expand the use of technology to other Canada airports and maple leaf waiting halls.
Passengers in flights suitable for the use of new digital technology will receive a notification that invites technology to use before flights and contains registration instructions. Passengers who do not want to benefit from this technology will be able to carry out boarding procedures in normal procedures with mobile or printed boarding cards and a photographic identity certificate given by the state.
According to the airline, biometric data is stored only on every mobile device and can only be collected if passengers approve. The information of the passengers will be kept up to 36 hours subject to Air Canada's strict privacy and safety standard.
