In recent years, it has grown in the field of private health insurance, especially with the great effect of complementary health insurance. As of the end of 2019, health insurance has entered the agenda of everyone from the upper income group to the lower income group due to the growing need for health, which has increased in importance during the global Covid-19 epidemic that has gripped both the world and Turkey.
In the first 10 months of 2022, premium production exceeded 20 billion liras in total health with an increase of 112%, and 5 billion liras in complementary health with an increase of 170%.
Although it is necessary to interpret the premium increases together with the significantly rising policy prices in the hyperinflationary environment (TSB), the premium production data for the first 10 months of 2022, announced by the Turkish Insurance Association, also showed that this process continues.
In addition, within the scope of the total health branch, the premium amount of 1.1 billion liras, which was produced with an increase of 386.6 percent in health insurance for foreigners, drew attention.
When we look at the details of the complementary health insurance in terms of premium production, it is seen that outpatient and inpatient treatment come to the fore. Accordingly, in the first 10 months of 2022, a premium of 4.7 billion liras was produced with an increase of 176.7% in the scope of inpatient and outpatient treatment, while a premium of 387.4 million liras was reached in the scope of inpatient treatment with an increase of 110.3%.
When we look at the data on the basis of sales channel, it is seen that "agencies are in the first place in both complementary health insurance and total health premium production, while the share of this channel in the first 10 months was 56.9% in total health and 61.1% in complementary health.
