“Universities also shape the values of individuals”.

Drawing attention to the fact that universities are not only institutions where vocational and technical education is given, but also that future generations understand their role in society as individuals and shape their values and beliefs, Dr Aslıhan Güzin Selçuk said, “Education is the basis for ensuring gender equality, supporting healthy life awareness, preventing violence, building a culture of tolerance and peaceful, stable and prosperous societies.”

Istanbul Gelisim University stated that 676 universities from 82 countries were evaluated in the field of 'Quality Education' in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Ranking (Impact Ranking) in 2020, and it is among the top 100 universities in the world and 34 universities in Turkey in this field. He reminded me that he put his name in the 1st place.

Istanbul Gelisim University, "Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Ranking In line with the 17 sustainable development goals determined by the United Nations (UN), the first and only university in the world based on the responsibility undertaken by universities in the local, regional, national and international arena and the added value they produce in achieving these goals. It has the distinction of being the only ranking”.

"UNIVERSITIES' ONLY RESPONSIBILITY IS NOT TO PROVIDE QUALIFIED EDUCATION TO ITS OWN STUDENTS"
Pointing out that higher education plays an important role in the sustainable development of societies, Dr Aslıhan Güzin Selçuk said, “Universities are not only institutions where vocational and technical education is given, but also one of the most important institutions where future generations understand their role in society as individuals and shape their values and beliefs. For this reason, it is an active player in sustainable development. Today, the only responsibility of universities is not only to provide qualified education to their students and to raise competent graduates. At the same time, it has become perhaps the most important responsibility to transform students into active individuals who are aware of the steps they need to take in line with sustainable development goals, have the power to transform society and are ready to take responsibility. However, the responsibility of universities does not end here. The society that struggles with inequalities, needs support and wants to improve itself has a great responsibility towards all segments of society. At this point, the importance and difference of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings emerge. The impact ranking is a very valuable ranking in which reputable universities strive to take place in terms of evaluating the quality and opportunities of the education offered by universities to their students, as well as their support for the sustainable development of societies in the national and international arena.”
“THE MOST IMPORTANT FORCE AGAINST POVERTY AND INEQUALITY”
Stating that education is the primary reason for the existence of higher education institutions, the competition in this field is also quite high, Director of IGU Sustainable Environment and Society Center Selçuk said, “Because quality education is one of the most important tools of sustainable development policy and has a critical importance in the realization of other sustainable development goals. one of the most important areas in the ranking. Inclusive and egalitarian education is a basic human right for every member of society. An educated society is the most important force against poverty and inequality in terms of representing an entrepreneurial, innovative, technologically open and productive workforce. At the same time, education also forms the basis of ensuring gender equality, supporting healthy life awareness, preventing violence, building a culture of tolerance and peaceful, stable and prosperous societies. The quality education area in the impact ranking evaluates the inclusive and equitable education opportunities offered by universities to their students and society, and the responsibility undertaken by universities within the scope of realizing the philosophy of lifelong learning. In this context, seeing that IGU occupies an important place among respected world universities is very valuable in terms of showing that we are on the right track and showing the extent of our support for the sustainable development of society.”

Emphasizing that they produced projects in the local, regional, national and international arena with the participation of students under the guidance of the road map prepared in line with the 2030 targets of the Presidency, Selçuk listed the priority targets in this area as follows:

“To establish safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environments,
