'Proz.Com' Announces New Pro Bono Translation and Interpretation Service

ProZ.com, the world's largest translation network and networking marketplace, mobilizes volunteers to provide free translation and interpreting services to nonprofits in a wide variety of industries around the world. This new project, which is only a few months old, is already reaching some important milestones. Let's take a look at the logic, origins, and progress to date.
Why Pro Bono?
Charities and nonprofits around the world do vital work in the areas of health, environment, education, child welfare, poverty, social issues and animal welfare. While these efforts often provide vital support to the disadvantaged, their work is often unrecognized and underfunded. Donations to charities and nonprofits have dwindled due to the cost-of-living crises and skyrocketing inflation around the world. But their initiative has never been more necessary, and the work must continue.
For many non-profit organizations, translation and interpreting costs constitute a large part of their budgets. ProZ.com believes that much-needed money is often better spent on the front lines. When did this thought lead to the launch of the new Pro Bono Project? What kind of communication is there between ProZ.com and client organizations?
