Applied English Translation

Have you met Esperanto, an artificial language?

Esperanto was spoken by very few people in the century of its existence. It was the most widely planned language, created in 1887 after ten years of work by the Warsaw linguist and ophthalmologist Lazar (Ludwik) Markovich Zamenhof. Esperanto (literally "Hopeful"), Zamenhof's nickname, soon became the name of the language. The most important distinguishing features of Esperanto, like many other planned languages, are: ease of learning, especially in the first stage, due to its simple grammar and the absence of exceptions, neutrality (non-ethnic), so Esperanto is not associated with any state or nation.
