 'Animal translation' gets media excited




Pet care would probably be much simpler if we could translate a simple word "meow" into human language with machine translation as easily as translating between two languages, such as, English and Turkish.
Recently, efforts in artificial intelligence-assisted "animal translation" have attracted the attention of the mainstream media, appearing in leading publications such as The New York Times and The Daily Beast. All kinds of MT-like programs have been developed to help humans better understand their animal counterparts, from mole rats to whales, but it still seems like a long way off before we can accurately identify the underlying ringing meanings of meows and purrs.
