The 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to the Zanzibar-born novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah for his "definitive and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of refugees in the gap between cultures and continents" according to the Swedish Academy's declaration.
The author who made his literary debut in 1987 with the novel "Memory of Separation" has ten books in total. "Paradise" (1994) and "By the Sea" (2001) are his most famous books.
