 “Helicopter Capture System” Nationalized

The helicopter interceptor system for the banned Turkish navy ships was developed with domestic resources.

The helicopter interceptor system for the banned Turkish navy ships was developed with domestic resources. The system will begin its first mission in the national frigate TCG Istanbul, which will be included in the inventory this year. In the Turkish defense industry, a successful localization work was carried out on the helicopter capture and transmission system, which was limited to purchase by Canada. The system was developed based on feedback from ship equipment operators, aircraft pilots, and shipyard maintenance and repair teams. Investments were made in the domestic defense industry through collaborations with experts in their fields.
Defense Industry President İsmail Demir told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the embargoed helicopter capture and transport was first developed locally by supplying it from abroad. Stating that the system allows helicopters to land safely on the ship and connect to the hangar, Demir said, "The system, which started its first mission with the national frigate Istanbul, which will be put into service this year, will also take its place on new ships. I congratulate everyone who contributed." said. Within the scope of the project, a technical committee of 5-15 people formed by Altınay Defense visited Istanbul and Gölcük Shipyard Command. MİLGEM, Barbaros and Gabya class helicopter interceptor systems were visited and manned aircraft were seen at the Naval Air Base. User experiences and suggestions were obtained from pilots and technical personnel. After all the work was completed, the design was finalized and production started. After the integration of the ships, according to the ship program, port acceptance tests will be carried out in March and sea acceptance tests in September
